2 Pocket Folders

Pocket folders are not always something that people give very much thought to buying, even though most of us use them every day.  Cheap pocket folders are available in many places but in some instances, and depending on what you want the folders for, cheap might not be your best option.

As with most things, in the world of pocket folders you generally get what you pay for.  You can buy brand name folders such as Smead or Pendaflex direct from many outlets, and you can get almost certain that the product you’re buying will be good quality and will last a long time.  With cheap pocket folders, however, it’s not always so easy to tell or to know exactly what you’ll be getting.

The best scenario you can hope for is to find some brand name folders which are on sale for some reason or another.  Doing an online search for terms such as Pocket Folders on Sale is one way to find them, as is searching major online retailers such as Amazon and Overstock, who will usually prominently display sale items in different categories. You can also check the manufacturer’s Web site to see if they are offering any direct to consumer sales or promotions at the time.

If you can’t find anything in this category, and you do want to buy cheap pocket folders, you’ll probably need to start looking for generic folders, meaning ones without a brand attached to them.  These are usually cheaper, sometimes significantly so, but as stated above the quality is not always guaranteed.  You may find, for example, that generic folders start to come apart at the seams, or that the pocket become loose quickly, or that the shapes in which they are cut are not perfect.

Whether or not this matters to you depends very much on what you’re planning to use the folders for.  If they’re simply for storage of document and are likely to sit in a closet or filing cabinet for years without being touched, then cheap generic folders are probably perfect.  Where you might run into problems is with folders which are in constant or regular use, because this can wear them down and folders that are not well made will start to fall apart fairly quickly with very regular use.
